SOICHIRO HONDA

Everywhere I always see many cars or motorcycles on the street with merk “HONDA”. Maybe million car or motorcycle use by many people in the world, but I don’t know who has developt that company.

One day I went to Gramedia Book Store and I found book with title “ Soichiro Honda”, I really interested to buy it. I read the book. In the fact, I admire Soichiro Honda, He is extraordinary person. Know, I want to share and tell story about him, I think He can be inspiration for other people.

Soichiro Honda is owner ‘HONDA MOTOR COMPANY ‘ . He was born in 17 November 1906 in a small village Tenryu City, Shizoka Honshu Island, Japan. His father name is Gihei Honda. He works to repairing of pan. Saichiro is the first baby boy from nine brotherhood in Honda’s Family. His Family lives modestly, but do you know, world wait and need this person, why ?

When he was child, Soichiro Honda has to shown desire to know averything about machine, Different with the other children who didn’t care about that. When his age Five years old, he could spent his time to see rice’s grider machine working and he did that almost everyday. He wanted to know that machine can work.

Honda prefer to help his father to repair pan than play with his friend. Someday, his Father advised him to joint party in the house honda’s friend. Finally Honda went to the party, but his friend ridiculed and drive out him from that party because he was from modest family. He really sad and decided go home. He told her father that he really embarrase. Her father told story about Napoleon Bonaparte, a person come from an ordinary people and modest family but finally can be a general and emperor in France country. His father always gives spirit, so that his son has strong confidance as capital to Honda’s lived. Know, Napoleon Bonaparte had imajination friend for Honda, story about Napoleon was influence for Honda’s live in the future. Soichiro Honda admired Napoleon, he wanted and like as Napoleon.

There was rural electrification program Honda’s village. that moment the same time when Honda was enrolls in elementary school. Honda was very happy because he could study with enough lamp and more diligent. Every came back from school, his friend always swam in the river, but he never joint because he couldn’t swim. He praid if he would sink. basicly, Honda wanted to swim but he didn’t know how to do that ? Honda asked his friend, how can to swim? And his friend suggested him to eat mardaka fist and his friends guaranteed after eat that fish, honda otomaticly can swim like the others. After go back from school, honda went to river and hunt for fish, after get it, honda eat that fish and he jump to the river, but he sink. He tried hard move until the land. Honda didn’t surrender, tomorrow afternoon he ate fish and to swan anymore, liked as yesterday he sink again. Honda tried to swim more and more, finally he could swim. Than, he desided that he could swim because not he eat fish but he tried to swim more and more. One time, Honda asked to her father, why he always lost defeated in all game? His father advised that Honda could be winner in the other thing, not to much hear opinion from the other person. He should believe if he could be successful person in the future.

The first time, car came to Honda’s village. Everyone wanted to see the car. Honda very interested to see the car. He couldn’t stop to wacth closely the car. And than, two month latter, in winter 1914 there was announcement that in Hamamatsu 20 km from his village, airplane came to Hamamatsu. Honda was very enthusiasm to wacth the airplane. Early morning without permitted to his parent, Honda went to Hamamatsu. He had two sent money in his pocket. He didn’t care, he ride the bicycle for two ours to hamamatsu. Many people to bought ticket, he sad because his money was not enought. But he didn’t lose idea. He climbed the tree beside the arena. Honda could wacth the airplane more clearly.

When the show finish, Honda went to home with feeling guilty, because he went to Hamamatsu without permit, but he realized that he should responsible for his mistake. He really afraid when he arrieve at home, his father like angry. The fact, his father asked him about the airplane and after that give advice that Honda should permit if he would go to every where.

Tomorrow morning, honda made propeller from bamboo and than it string to the his bicycle. He Played as if he was be pilot. And he never was boring to do it for several months.

Honda continued his school to Yunior High school in a boarding school. He studied hard. He didn’t want his father disappointed. And several years latter in 1921, Honda graduate from school, he went back home and he got surprise that his father open bicycle repair shop. All Honda’s family was happy. And Honda worked to help his father. One day his father brought him a magazine “The World of Wheels,” he really like to read it. In this magazine, Honda read a vacancy for mechanic and he interested to get that job. He sent vacancy letter in 1922. Three weeks latter, he received letter that he got the job. Honda was happy and excited.

Actually, His father very sad because he would separated from his son, but he realized must give spirit to his son to get that job. He wanted his son to be success person. Tomorrow morning, Honda’s father delivered him to Tokyo, almost five hours they walked around to find place where Honda would work. Finally they find Mobil Auto Repair shop and meet with new boss. Honda was leaf by his father. His father went back to village.

Honda comfused, he apply job for mechanic the fact he got job for take care baby his boss, with salary five yen. He was disappointed, but he didn’t go home. He would not surrender. He thought that the opportunity to be mechanic not far anymore, now it only was not good time for him.

Although he should to take cares a baby, he spent his time to learn automotive in workshop.

Arto Shokai Company always busy because that time still few mobil auto repair shop. That company had sixteen employees.

One day there was one car could not repair by all mechanics. His boss, Mr. Saka Kibara called Honda. He asked Honda work in workshop to help the other mechanic to repair the car. Honda was happy. Finally, he got opportunity to be mechanic. He worked hard and his boss appresiated that Honda had talent as mechanic.

Six day had gone. When Honda Repaired a car, suddenly everything near him shake. It happened earthquake. Everyone went out from workshop, but his boss asked his employees back to workshop to save the cars. Honda should drive a car, but he can’t drive. He tried to drive a car to the street the same time when that workshop shattered. Everyone thought that he was died, the fact honda can drive a car until street and he come close to dying. The accident happened in September 1923. Earthquake happened very terrifying in kanto in Tokyo and Yokohama.

Honda and his boss family stay under the bridge. Only two employees stay with them, they were Honda and old man, the other went back to their village.

They began to work again, and made workshop under the bridge.

One year latter, when Honda age 18 years old in 1924, he got duties when to Marioka with distance 760 km from Tokyo. He should repair car’s fire department. When he visited to fire department. Many people didn’t believe Honda could repair the car, they opinion that Honda to young. Three day latter, Honda finished to repair the car and many people admired him. Honda was be a good mechanic.

When Honda age 20 years old, his boss gave him responsible to open branch office in Hamamatsu. Honda was Happy because he could back to his village. He used workshop his father. Several day since the workshop open, no one customer visited, but Honda didn’t sad, he believe would come customers to his workshop. And that true, the first customer came. Honda worked faster to repair the car. His customer was satisfied Story about good service in Honda’s workshop was be good promotion, many customer came to his workshop.

In 1931 when Honda age 25 years old, he drive car around the city. Suddenly he saw a beautiful girl ride the bicycle. He followed that girl until the girl’s home. Honda Introduce himself. The girl’s name was sachi Isabe. She was Teacher in elementary school. In 1935 Honda married with Sachi Isabe. Honda found and choose his wife without marriage proccessed.

After married, Honda more hard work. He had so many idea about automotive. For example, he tried to make speed boat in his workshop, and he successfull. Than his speed boat to be winner in one competition. But Honda’s desire not enough until to made speed boat he tried to made racing car. He used airplane mechine in his car. He trial his car in a racing car circuit and of course he could be winner anymore.

The rival could not receive, and he chalange Honda to reapit the competision tomorrow morning, and Honda agree. In the morning racing car start, honda drove his car very faster so that he couldn’t control his car. The car strucked the wall circuit. Honda was seriously injured, he was coma. That tragedy happened in 1936. Honda come close to dying for twice. Good still love him, after 18 month latter he health again and he had work in workshop.

Honda always had new idea. He could stay without to do anything. He thought if the company wanted more succeed, the company not only gave service but also should made one product to back up the service. He got idea to make Ring Piston. Than he visited his boss and told about all idea, he Hope his boss could back up. The fact his boss didn’t agree. Finally Honda resigned from his job, He wanted to made own company. When Honda arrived at home, he told it to his wife and he needed money to got his dream. His wife to back up him with gave her money as capital to make new campany. Beside that, Honda called his friends and he hope they could give him loan. He made persentation about Ring Piston project. And His friends believed him with give loan. Honda work hard in his workshop to made Ring Piston, more and more but his efforts failed. His company bankrupt. His friends was angry and disappointed because lost their money. Honda is very sad until sick for a week. He thought why he failed? Finally he made decision that he had not knowledge about it and he should continue to school in mechine technology in Hamamatsu College. When studied in college Honda only took one lesson about spare parts. Usually, after went back from college Honda try to make Ring Piston anymore. He still had desire to make ring piston perfectly. And his efforts show good result. Ring Piston more than good but not enough perfect.

Honda studied in that college only two years, he drop out because he didn’t want to take the other lesson. He gave reason that he didn’t need the other knowledge except about spare parts and how to make ring piston, that all. He didn’t need certificate because it’s not guarantee was be success person.

With knowledge about spare parts, he continues to make ring piston more perfect. He tried and tried again. He never surrender to developt his dream and finally, he could made ring piston like he wanted. He went to Toyota Company to sell ring piston, and his hard work give good result, he got order 50.000 unit, but of course he must made ring piston appropriate standar quality control Toyota Company.

Almost a month he repaired ring piston until perfect such as Toyota request.

Honda developt Ring Piston Factory, with name “Tokai Seiki.” His company received many orders, not only from toyota. Honda’s Ring Piston sold to the other country. Because Toyota orders Ring Piston more large. Toyota company to help Honda to built Tokai Seiki Factory more large. Honda’s company grow up faster, But the world examine anymore. In june 1945, earthquake back to destroyed Hamamatsu, Tokai Seiki shattered. Than in August 1945, BomberPlane B -29 Superfortreess drop an otomic bomb at Hirasima and Nagasaki. An otomic bomb to finished war world II. Japan country very shaterred. Japan in economic crisis.

Honda thought, He should be take arest for several time, because so many bad luck, more and more.

One year latter, Honda tried new business. He Joint with twelve friends to developt Honda Technical Search Insitute. He made textile machine, but he failed anymore until all his money was gone.

In 1946, Japan back to bicycle period. Bicycle was be the most populer transportation. Honda was be foor man. He ride bicycle wherever he went. But He still had high spirit to change his lived. One day he ride his bicycle around the city, suddenly he saw a little box in front office soldier. Honda pick up the box, the fact that box was machine to trun on the radio, usually used by the soldier. After arrived at home, that machine he adhere on his bicycle, of course with few modification. He Tried to ride the bicycle and he succeed. This was be Honda Idea about motorcycle. Honda had opinion that motorcycle was be cheap and useful transportasion.than, he made same motorcycle and he sold to his friend. Many people ordered Honda’s motorcycle.

In September 1948, Honda loan money to his father to developt simple motorcycle factory, so that he could made many motorcycle and it could reduce cost production. The most important, to made motorcycle machine. His efforts to shown good result, Honda’s motorcycle sold well and populer, many people used it on the street. Finally, 24 September 1948 Honda Motor Company was developt. And He could to modified, explored and found new inovation to made his motorcycle more perfect.

In August 1949 was born the frist prototipe motorcycle with name was Dream. Dream was very popular in Japan. The same time, Honda felt that he failed to manage marketing and finance. So that he asked Takeo Fujisawa to jointed in his company, Because Honda knew that Fujisawa was a genius manager in marketing and finance. Than, Honda to create and made motorcycle and Fujisawa to distribution his product. The smart leader and smart manager joint, to made Honda Motor Company grow faster and was be a big company.

In March 1950, Honda’s Head Office moved to tokyo and Takeo Fujisawa as Finance Directur. Honda lounched new motorcycle. It was more faster, economizing to fuel and no noise. Honda’s motorcycle succeed in the market, olmost 900 unit sold out in the market. In 1953, Honda got loan from Bank to developt new Factory in Saitama, near from Tokyo. And He could increase to produce motorcycle and distribution it to all country in the world almost 25.000 unit in a month. That condition to push Honda developt new some factory to produce motorcycle more large.

In 1954, Honda went to europe for two months. He got information that otomotive in europe more than had good quality. So, he wanted to know the real fact about that, special for motorcycle. In europe he bought many tipes of motorcycle. When he came back to Japan, he dig up spare part and body motorcycle from europe. And he made motorcycle like that. The new motorcycle was born IN 1958 with the name C-100 Super Cup.

In June 1959, Honda developt American Honda Motor Company in Los Angeles and Kahachiro Kawashima as Directur. Beside that, in 1960 Honda developt the biggest motorcycle factory in Suzuka. He could explored his idea, and Honda to introduced motorcycle for racing. That was not enough, he made car for racing in sircuit F-1. Honda was rich and a famous person in the world.

In 1962, Honda Motor Company not only product motorcycle but it produce car too. The first car lounched to the market N – 360. Five years latter in may 1967 N – 360 could sell morethan 6.000 unit in the world. In 1972 Honda lounched Honda Sivic and in one years Honda Sivic could sold 9 millions in the world. In 1973, when honda was 67 years old, Honda and Takeo Fujisawa went back from compony. They was old to manage that company, and the leadership they gave to the youngman, person who had fress idea ans smart. In 1974, Honda’s car with CVCC techologi sold in America. And Finally Honda was be Advicer in his company.

He had advice that success could get pass through failed more and more and should want to intropection and of course had firmness. Honda believed success because basicly success 1 %, 99% after failed.
